Whispers of the Past – Mystical Adventures Through Scotland and Beyond
Your Ancestral Heart Beat Invitation
Every castle, every misty glen, every wind-swept hill seemed to reach for me, whispering secrets I could barely understand…
Scotland—and the lands beyond—were alive, guiding me through hidden paths of memory, intuition, and ancestral wonder.
The Highlands and Ancient Echoes
Looking back over my journals, photos, and videos from Scotland, then London, York, and Northumberland, I see these travels not just as a journey through landscapes, but as an odyssey through time, spirit, and connection.
In the Highlands, mist curled around jagged peaks like a living veil. In Glencoe, each breath felt heavy with memory, the wind carrying echoes of courage and grief from centuries past. Standing near the battlefield, my chest tightened, my heart quickened—I could feel the presence of Jacobite souls who had walked these lands long before me. A raven called, slicing through the mist, and I felt it as a messenger, a companion, a reminder that the past is never fully gone.
Castles, Libraries, and Lessons
Castle Fraser rose like a sentinel from the morning fog. I wandered corridors that twisted like hidden rivers of memory, tracing my fingers along worn banisters, imagining the laughter, secrets, and dreams that had once filled these spaces.
Inverpefferey Library was a sanctuary of quiet power. The scent of old paper and ink mingled with the whisper of my own thoughts. Running my hands over the leather-bound volumes, I sensed the curiosity and dreams of generations long gone. Words and images rose unbidden, and I knew the library itself was guiding me, opening channels of insight that could only come through stillness and attention.
The Journey Home
Seeing Scotland fade from my rearview brought tears to my eyes and a strange, hollow numbness. It felt as though a part of me had been left behind, still wandering the hills and glens I had come to love. I took the road from Gleneagles past Linlithgow Palace, the towering Kelpies, and down toward the A1(M) southbound.
Inside, my body felt as though it was crumbling into pieces — a sensation unlike anything I had ever known. Yet I knew this would be my last visit of the year. The months ahead were meant to be spent anchored and recovering in my son’s family home. Still, I wondered how long it would take for my heart to catch up to my body… and whether all of me truly made the journey south.
Alone, Yet Not Alone
Upon turning the key in the door of the detached house, I felt a choke rise in my throat. I could feel my two granddaughters like tender ghosts of memory — their smiles, their voices, their light wrapping around me. My body bent instinctively, ready to hold them, but there was nothing — only echoes.
I unpacked my books, journals, and art supplies, and as I moved through the rooms, their tiny footprints, their laughter, and their warmth filled my mind. It was haunting, tender, and achingly beautiful. I was utterly alone, yet surrounded by love — from my family across the world and from ancestors who have always walked beside me.
Loss, Transformation, and Ancestral Guidance
My family was gone. Dad died in January 2021. My brother in January 2024. My mother was in a nursing home, and my own home sold.
And yet, I was never truly alone. My ancestors, known and unknown, guided me through trauma, upheaval, and transformation. Dreams and meditations became conversations. Their wisdom, their protection, their presence — it was all with me as I faced loss, chaos, and the unknown.
Entering my Saturn Return in 2021 marked another turning point: a profound period of endings and beginnings. And even amidst the total loss of identity, livelihood, family, and certainty, I felt spiritually fortified, gold in strength, and aligned with a path older than this lifetime.
The Book Within Me
Surrounded by empty rooms, my mind filled with ideas, creativity, and rebirth. The old Susan fell away, and a new self emerged — open, laughing, adventurous. Scotland had not left me; it lived inside every road, stream, loch, castle, Highland cow, and voice of the deep Scotsman. Every adventure was within me.
Boxes, backpacks, and suitcases held my journals, travel notes, photographs, and memories. My ancestors were here in every word, every smudge, every dog-eared page.
The book was within me.
It had become me.
I was the pen. I was the script. I was the turn of every page — the tension, excitement, joy, and ache. Every chapter reflected my life, my losses, and the guidance of ancestors who walked with me.
An Invitation
And as I sat among my boxes, journals, and memories, I felt a quiet truth settle over me: the connection to our ancestors is never lost. They are always present, whispering guidance, offering strength, and inviting us to step more fully into our own lives. Just as they walked with me through Scotland, through loss, through rebirth, they can walk with you too — to illuminate your path, to help you understand the patterns of your family, and to guide you toward the joy, courage, and wisdom that is already within you.
Your ancestors are speaking — in whispers, in dreams, in the quiet of your heart. I can help you hear them, understand their messages, and bring their guidance into your life, opening doors to wisdom, healing, and clarity.
