Torchlight of Tarot
Synchronicity greeted me at the coast yesterday – a pull to the ocean in these darkness of days entering a deeper winter time. It was a much needed journey for my soul. It was an ancestral call.
A light flickers within my heart for sea air and upliftment from the sounds upon the whole of my senses. Soft ebb and flow of crashing waves and salty air as I strolled carefully across polished pebbles and exquisite colours beneath the magic canopy of sky.
When sunshine prepared itself for sleep I found myself drenched in sea water swept up in the high waves licking against the rapidly disappearing beach. High tide crushed me to the outer edges. I cried within – such delight at a time the coastline had become so silent – so still. Deserted if it were not for one or two dog walkers in the far distance.
Two slim, small dark outlines drifted towards me each folding forwards digging into the grey, red, amber, black, cream, and white pebbles. Diminishing light did not deter these two souls seeking out in nature the delights of the past to colour their future. A little historic treasure to help them map out their destiny – creatively – memories of their visit and addition to the story of their time in the North East of England upon Seaham Beach.
Ancient Knowledge Shaping Your Future
They lifted each piece to hold up to the light coming from the street lamps high above on the promenade. Both sets of eyes searching for the light, colour, design and dimension of the tiny shapes of gems, once discarded glass bottles – now much prized treasures shaped over time naturally by the caressing kiss of the sea. Each piece a clue to it’s story. Defined shape, indentation and depth of colour a shimmering echo from it’s past. Both souls stepped upon uneven, new ground – symbolic of their new life adventures in this new country. Shaped by the experience seeking their precious sea glass. Both their lights shone bright with enthusiasm and joy of discovery.

The Intrigue of Tarot Torchlight
Those two young university students were intrigued by the beach and it’s treasures.
As we shared our bubbling excitement, I discovered they were both from South China, an area I had stayed over a decade ago, including my visits to Hong Kong. The laughter lifted our spirits and it was uncanny that the last time upon the beach, in that very spot, I spent an hour or two with my two granddaughters building sandcastles, paddling in the sea, then seeking chunks of coloured sea glass, collecting pebbles. Both of whom now live in Hong Kong. How ironic it was that I speak spontaneously about Tarot to two Chinese lovers of the ancient scriptures as they map out their futures whilst touching our sea glass historical treasures. Fascinated with each fresh discovery.
The young students attending Newcastle University asked me what I did in my work and when discovering I read Tarot, and taught it, immediately asked me for my business card. One young lady shared with me photographs of her current Tarot deck. She also had a passion for photography, so she snapped a couple of photographs with the fading horizon behind me.
I am so looking forward to reading Tarot for them both in this coming month. Helping them map out their pathway in life ahead and learning more of their cultural interest in Tarot as they seek to learn deeper meaning to each of the Tarot cards in my ancestral heart soul map Tarot workshop. Connecting your past with the present in discovering the options mapping out your future.
