Honouring Life with Love: My Path as a Funeral Celebrant
Over the years, I have been called upon many times to deliver eulogies at funeral services—by family, friends, and members of the spiritual communities I have served for more than three decades. Each time, I have considered it both a sacred trust and a profound privilege.
As a healer, coach & public spiritual worker –
I have always sought to bring comfort and light to others. When I sit with families who are grieving, I listen with a tender ear and an open heart. In those conversations, stories unfold: the small moments that defined a life, the beliefs that carried them, the love they gave to family and friends. It is from these stories that I weave the words spoken at their farewell.
I have delivered services for those very close to me—my father, my brother, my aunts and uncles –
as well as for children taken too soon, people whose lives were cut short by illness, and elders who completed their journey in this world. Each service is unique. Each one is shaped by the personality, the faith, and the spirit of the person we are honouring.
At times of loss, emotions are raw: shock, disbelief, anger, deep sorrow. My quiet presence helps to ease fear and create space for remembrance. Whether in a crematorium, a church, or a spiritual centre, my role as a celebrant is to hold the gathering with reverence and grace, to speak words that uplift while respecting the faith and wishes of the family.
I do not seek acclaim for this work. What matters most is that the families I serve feel that their loved one has been honoured in a way that is true to them—that their farewell has been crafted with dignity, love, and respect.
If you are in need of someone to guide you through this moment, I welcome you to reach out. We can have a gentle conversation about your wishes for a service—whether you would like family and friends to share their voices, or prefer a simple, quiet ceremony. Whatever your religion, whatever your beliefs, my intention is always the same: to help create a farewell that feels embracing, spiritual, and deeply personal.
No family should walk through loss alone. If you need guidance in planning a heartfelt farewell, I welcome you to get in touch, and together we will shape a service filled with love, dignity, and remembrance
With sincere condolences,
Susan
