“I want a life that sizzles and pops and makes me laugh out loud.” – Shauna Niequist
Your life is a blank canvas and you are the artist!
Find or buy yourself a small paintbrush, a set of crayons, oil pastels, acrylics or powder paints.
Create a space of an hour or so in your busy schedule this week and with a blank canvas – paper or board, book, or journal – take a few moments to connect with your soul, allowing yourself the honour of creating a vision of your life ahead, or simply express those inner emotions. When you have completed this task, place your creation in a very prominent place within your home or workplace. Admire your brilliance!
You are a beautiful creator of all things you require in this life.
2. Walking Meditation
“Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it will elude you; but if you turn your attention to other things – it will come and sit softly on your shoulder.” – Buddhist Proverb
Grab a camera, book, notebook or your phone. Travel out to your favourite spot. Walk in silence around this special place. Connect with your heart. Record in photographs or words your day – pouring into your words your emotions on how you are feeling. Why is this place so special to you? Does it remind you of someone who you spent time with in your past? Did you find yourself here? With whom do you wish you could be at this precise moment in time, in this special place?
“The mind is not a vessel to be filled; but a fire to be kindled.” – Plutarch
With the New Year just around the corner, everyone is thinking of how to spend this forthcoming year with a new energy, new circle of friends, new places to visit, new challenges to meet, new goals to set. What hobbies have you been putting off – or being prevented from doing? Set yourself free and enter into your new adventures. Write down a list of those hobbies and interests you wish to enjoy in the new year, or – hang on… why not start now!
“A wise man is content with his lot; whatever it may be, without wishing for what he has not.” – Seneca
Imagine you have all the money you need. Write down all the things you would do. How would this make your life more complete?
5. Accept Invitations
“Touch has a memory.” – John Keats
How many times have you felt under the weather, a little low on emotion and then made excuses when friends and work colleagues have invited you along to join with them in celebration? I am thinking lots, right? This December, encourage acceptance. That new experience is just waiting for you to step into it. You will meet those people you never imagined could bring you uplift and laughter. Memories are waiting for you to ‘show up’.
6. Treat Yourself
“Many people think that excitement is happiness … but when you are excited you are not peaceful. True happiness is based on peace.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
Visualise in this moment your favourite cafe, bistro or restaurant. No matter what the distance. Book a table, turn up, sit down. Find your peace in aligning to your joy in this place. Mindful of your journey through all your peace of mind in all your tomorrows.
“The best way to cheer yourself is to try to cheer someone else up.” – Mark Twain
Arrange to meet someone you have lost touch with. Ask someone who you have just recently met to join you for a brunch, lunch, or walk.
Extend your invitation and find joy in their acceptance.
Rekindle & Reconnect.
8. Disconnect Devices
“Neurons that fire together – wire together.” – Donald Hebb
Switch off. Disconnect. All mobile phones, ipods, laptops, ipads, televisions, radios. Why are you afraid of silence? What do you fear you are missing if you do disconnect your devices? When did you allow something or someone outside of Self to place that obsessive hold on you?
9. Play Your Favourite Music
“He whose face gives no light, shall never become a star.” – William Blake
A brilliant, quick and simple way to change your energy balance is by playing a favourite piece of music. Let it transport you back in memory to places, times, and people you once connected with. Perhaps you have just discovered a new artist, tune, or song? Do you sing? Have you joined a singing group? Allow music to touch your soul.
10. Re-align to your Soul’s Purpose
“The support of our Soul and the joy that it bestows is sufficient to our need and carries us forward.” – Genevieve Gerard
Who are you? Where are you? What is quirky or funny about you? What is preventing you from living peacefully? Where did you lose your happiness? When? Where are you planning to spend time doing all the things in life you wish to do? Let your inner voice – your soul speak. Listen.
11. Pamper Time
“We don’t get enough pampering. If we were once the only child of an adoring mother, we developed a taste for it; if not, we developed a thirst for it.” – Barbara Holland
“It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent.”
― Madeleine K. Albright
Take a pen, a sheet of paper. Write a letter to yourself, but date it one year from now. Address it to you at your home, pop a stamp upon the envelope.
Write back to you, as you would a friend, and update that friend on all you have done since you saw them last.
Call in your future. This is a marvelous task to affirm your beliefs and wishes, in retrospective psychology. Allow your mind to imagine in areas you would never have previously thought. Give consideration to the place you chose to sit and write, it has to be a special place. All of your energy will be aligned in this connection to your Higher Self. Have fun & let your energy flow……. Remember to post it!
